III Global Research Program
Global Internships for Research and Practice-Based Learning
The Global Research Program promotes international research collaboration, connecting UC Chile researchers with master’s and senior undergraduate international students. Students from all over the world may become interns in real research projects led by faculty at UC Chile, learning skills that will be valuable in their home universities and in their future fields of occupation. The internships are unpaid, vary in length and responsibilities, and may be completed on-site, hybrid, or remote. The call is open to all areas of knowledge.
Clothing and Illustration Regulations in 1940s Japan
Faculty supervisor: Camila Gutiérrez
This project studies the clothing regulations imposed by the “Committee for Reform of National Dress” during World War II in Japan. Following these regulations, in the 1940s Japanese fashion magazines began to promote “women’s standard clothing” (fujin hyōjun fuku) and “remade clothing” (kōsei fuku). This leg of the research is concerned with how bodies were recommended to be drawn according to the Comittee’s regulations, particularly regarding posture, proportions, and height.
